How I Got Started
Sharon over at Get Paid to Write Online proposed a new group writing project yesterday. The theme is “getting our blogging start” and she encourages all of her readers to write a blog entry talking about how they got started in the blogosphere. Here’s my story…
Up until about two years ago, I didn’t really know what a blog was. I had an account on LiveJournal, but no one really talked about “blogging” as much as participating in social networking. It wasn’t until much later, when I was taking my first Reiki class, that a classmate mentioned a website where he was getting paid to sumit articles. That was Associated Content, which certainly isn’t a blog.
I checked out the site, though, and began writing. I added dozens of articles over the next few months, realized how much I missed writing, and started to read some of the articles others had been posting. Quite a few of those articles, both on AC and on other blogs, were about the business of writing and blogging.
I don’t really remember what it was that made me want to start my own blog. I was about six months into my new writing “hobby” when I realized I wanted to make it a career. I thought that sharing my experiences would help others in similar situations, so I ran out to register a domain name and spent an hour learning to upload WordPress on my own (it takes me a matter of minutes to do now)!
I’ve been blogging ever since. I’ve been learning, and I’ve been growing. I’ve met tons of other wonderful writers, read thousands of incredible articles and posts, and have learned more than I ever could have imagined.
And I’m not ready to stop…

Thanks for joining in. It’s a great story and I’m sure a lot of other budding writers will be inspired by it.
